On route back from our holiday in Wales to London Heathrow, we passed through Llangollen, a little town in Denbighshire in north east Wales situated on the River Dee. As we had accommodations in England that night and unable to secure a room we reluctantly left but we returned the following day just to enjoy this pretty area in Wales.

Castell Dinas Bran sits on a hill far above Llangollen and the King of Powis possible ruled the middle kingdom of Wales from that castle.

We enjoyed walking along the bridge over the River Dee and enjoying a pleasant summer day.

Castell Dinas Bran is a medieval castle standing on a hill high about the town of Llangollen and this area was once in the ancient Welsh Kingdom of Powis and built by Gruffydd II ap Madog, Lord of Dinas Bran, and was constructed in the 1260s and most probable he ruled from this castle, which lies in ruins.
