We stopped and visited the town of Flam and its scenic waterfall and by the time I got around to booking a room, all the hotel rooms in Flam were occupied. The hotel clerk at one of the hotels suggested we travel up the new road to Laerdal. The alternative would have been to return to Gol a few hours behind us. I white-knuckled it up the mountain on a one-lane road, without guardrails, up to Laerdal and our hotel room. |
