I would like to make a small comment on the road system in Norway and driving in general, at least concerning the two main routes that we had traveled on during our visit. Shortly after we have left Oslo, the traffic lanes dwindled down to a one-lane road with two-way traffic. The vast majority of roads in the countryside, which is abundant in Norway in it majestic glory, were such one-lane roads. The lower right photograph below on this web page shows a road with a small pull off just before a curve.

Through no planning of my own, I found my wife, Aimee and myself, almost the very beginning of the largest of Norwegian Fjords, the Sognefjord. Unwilling to backtrack to the town of Gol to the east and with no desire to go down the new road from Laerdal to Flam, we decided to continue west along the Fjord. We were rewarded with breathtaking scenery.
