We strolled around the medieval old city of Tallinn on a very warm and sunny day. |
Below right in the distance is the tower of St. Olaf's Church, which is believed to have been built in the 12th century for Tallinn's Scandinavian community and at one time was the tallest building in the world. |
The pair of towers is located at the beginning of Viru Street in Old Town and are one of the main pedestrian arteries into Old Town - is often the very first glimpse visitors get of historic Tallinn, as we approached from the other side of the old city we got a glimpse of modern Tallinn. The outer wall of the Old City had merchant shops with goods and there were some living historians costumed as if from the medieval era walking among the town. |
