The Doge's Palace is a gothic palace, in Italian is called Palazzo Ducale di Veniezia, and was the resident of the Doge of Venice, who was the chief magistrate of the Most Serene Republic of Venice for over a thousand years.

The Doge's Palace was constructed from 1309 -1423 and besides being, the ducal residence housed institutions of the Republic of Venice.


This massive staircase led up the Doge's area of the Palace.


The mouth was a slot to an office of an official of the Republic and citizens of Venice could drop anonymous accusations of another citizen for the authorities to investigate.
