The Rialto Bridge is one of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal and a pontoon bridge was first built on the site in 1181, followed by several wooden bridges. |

The present day Rialto Bridge in stone was completed in 1591 and with the shop stalls lining both side of the bridge this area is a major tourist attraction, with shops selling merchandise. |

I observed this skull and shield on the side of a building as we enjoyed our ride down the Grand Canal.
