our house

We worked on the soffit area over ten days of vacation time during the summer of two thousand and six and a full day power washing the pool deck, and have improved the pool area. The soffit was a family affair, with Aimee, Madeline, and Anne all helping and we are all pleased with the results.

This was the condition of the pool area and soffit before we purchased the property. The soffit at the near corner from my camera had a plywood patch over rotten plywood soffit; the soffit at the corner adjacent the pool cage near the light had some water damage. A large box, possible either intercom or security, box hung rusting from the wall or an intercom station from the inoperable AMFM intercom system that was wired throughout the house was attached to the concrete walls.

We replaced approximately twelve inches by four foot of the roof and would install a new corner joist by attaching two boards on either side the existing joist and new section and replaced rotten lumber by the inside corner. We replaced some of the fascia between the pool cage and the roof joists, which was slightly damaged.

This replaced soffit is along the apartment kitchen and dining room wall. We moved the floodlights, which were positioned in front of the apartment patio doors, positioned them away from the doors and centered directly behind the pool steps. The stereo speakers are wired to an AMFM stereo receiver and attached CD player, which is located in the master bedroom.

We purchased some pool deck chairs and tables and after power washing the pool deck, we can enjoy the pool area and the piped-in music from the CD player. We now have the entire outside of the home repaired, painted, fixed and modified to our liking from the main floor front all the way to the apartment corner, including the gazebo and the side yard, which represents eight or nine months of work on just those two area.
