The Citadel is the cliff area, which has cottages , hotel rooms and the Bell Tower, whose base was constructed from stones of a razed castle of Gruffydd ap Cynan King of North Wales, the motte of which is in the Wilds above Portmeirion. |
Cottages and hotel rooms line the cliff area and the views of the estuary and mountains from the rear of these buildings are beautiful. |

Below right is another of those photographs from the woods we had taken while roaming the wilds above Portmeirion Village. The large yellow and pink building is a the Government House, a five-bedroom cottage we occupied in the summer of 1998 on our first of two family vacations to England and Wales. |
