Gate House Cottage was built in the mid-fifties and built on a large rock, which is visible to the right of the entry view photograph (top photograph) which illustrates Sir Clough's reluctance to destroy the land to create a community. As he did with Bridge House up the path a bit, both sides of this building have different looks to them and when in Portmeirion you need to keep your eyes open for anything.
