The Church of Santa Caterina has been referred to as Sicilian Baroque at its best and located on the east side of Piazza Pretoria. The unabashed sexuality of the fountain, with some females unashamed of their nudity or the leering looks from male figures offended many church going ladies and the fountain was dubbed "The Fountain of Shame" when it was reconstructed in the 1600s and that moniker persisted through the 20th century. |
